Baby Development in Week 39

Your baby is getting antibodies from placenta for protection against illness. Your baby also gets antibodies when you start feeding baby after birth. In week 39, your baby’s organs are well developed. Lungs are producing more surfactant which helps to keep air sacs open and prepares your baby for first breath after birth.

Diet

Are you getting enough copper in your diet?

Copper is a nutrient and is necessary for proper growth, development, maintenance of bone, brain, and heart and organ tissue. Copper helps in creating baby’s heart, blood vessels and cells, nervous, immune and skeletal systems.

Sources of copper are:

Lentils, whole grains, black pepper. Hazelnuts, cashews and other nuts etc.

Exercises

Bouncing on an exercise ball to induce labor encourages baby to move down and also assist in cervix dilation. This can also help in soothing baby. The moment helps pelvic floor to contract and relax naturally. Try to bounce a few minutes throughout day.

Precautions

  • Stays hydrated and drink lots of water.
  • It is good for you to adjust your exercise routine. Some women in third trimester may suffer from problem of congestion but it’s good to keep a check on medications that you are taking to relieve from such problems.
  • Do not miss your antenatal appointments.
  • Your doctor will suggest you genetic testing in order to check that where your baby is at risk.
