.Baby Development in 28 Week 

In week 28, your baby’s brain is developing and expanding. Your baby has opened eyes now in the womb. There will be fat accumulation under baby’s skin. Your baby also takes naps and has set a routine now. Your baby’s eye color has still not revealed yet. Your baby’s spinal cord is wrapped with a white and fatty substance. This process is called myelination and it will continue to occur throughout pregnancy and in first year of your pregnancy. Bones are also hardening with time.

Diet

    • So your third trimester has started and you should rely on right diet in order to get all the required nutrition. In third semester:
      • You need a daily dose of calcium which is essential for bones and teeth building of your baby. Sources of calcium are milk and other dairy products such as cheese and yogurt.
      • Also add vitamin D rich foods to diet for absorption of calcium.
      • With increase in fetal growth, increase in folic acid requirement will also increase. Folic acid is also important because it prevents neural tube defects in babies.
      • Also add protein rich foods to diet such as eggs, milk and yogurt.

      Exercise

In general, during pregnancy it is not advised to start with a high intensity exercise if you have tried such exercises before. You can start exercise at any time of pregnancy but remember a few tips like:

Start slow and easy. You can practice easy exercises such as:

  • Walking
  • Swimming
  • Yoga
  • Pelvic floor exercises etc

Precautions

  • Follow the tips to stay safe in second trimester of your pregnancy:
    • Stays hydrated and drink lots of water.
    • It is good for you to adjust your exercise routine. Some women in 2nd trimester may suffer from problem of congestion but it’s good to keep a check on medications that you are taking to relieve from such problems.
    • Do not miss your antenatal appointments.
    • Your doctor will suggest you genetic testing in order to check that where your baby is at risk.
