Baby Development in 
23 Week 

Your baby’s weight has increased now and is almost a little more than 500g and measures about 28.9cm from start to end. The movements can be felt on surface of tummy in the coming weeks. The sounds that your baby can hear now have become clearer. Your baby can hear the sounds in the outside world as early as 16 weeks but these sounds have become clearer now. Bone marrow of your baby has also started making more red blood cells. Blood is pumped around your baby’s body and now skin appears red due to flow of this blood.


By this time:

  • If you go outside to eat something, try to eat some healthy food before going out e.g. fruits, vegetables or some nuts.
  • Try to eat smaller meals and from time to time.
  • Add sodium to your diet. It is given less importance but it is actually an important mineral that is present in table salt and tries to regulate the body’s fluid, temperature and pH levels.
  • If there will be a lack of sodium in your body then your muscles, nerves and organs would not function properly.
  • You need to add 1,500 mg of sodium in your diet.


You should be careful about level of exercises that you choose to do. Before choosing any exercise routine, make sure that you consult and discuss with your doctor anything before you take a start. If you will not consult your doctor then you might not know that the exercise routine that you are using is harmful for you. You should remember a few things:

  • Do not exhaust yourself.
  • You should choose a light or moderate exercise program.
  • Do not suddenly start strenuous exercises.
  • You can start doing exercise for 15 minutes three times in a week.
  • You can increase the time of exercise from 15 to 30 minutes.

    to stay safe in second trimester of your pregnancy:

    Stays hydrated and drink lots of water.

    It is good for you to adjust your exercise
    routine. Some women in 2nd trimester may suffer from problem of
    congestion but it’s good to keep a check on medications that you are taking to
    relieve from such problems.

    Do not miss your antenatal appointments.

    Your doctor will suggest you genetic testing in
    order to check that where your baby is at risk.
